Fiancé Visa Letter Requirements for a Prospective Marriage Visa

If you are applying for a Prospective Marriage Visa (Subclass 300), you may be required to provide a Fiancé Visa Letter from an authorised Australian Marriage Celebrant to support your application.

A fiancé Visa Letter can be provided immediately following our meeting to lodge your NOIM.

How Does the Process Work?

To obtain your Fiancé Visa Letter, the first step is lodging your Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) with an authorised celebrant (me!).

Only one party is legally required to sign the Notice of Intended Marriage, meaning the partner already in Australia can lodge the paperwork on behalf of the couple before the overseas partner arrives in Australia.

Once our meeting has taken place and the required documentation has been completed, your Fiancé Visa Letter can be issued to support your visa application with the Department of Home Affairs.

What Is a Prospective Marriage Visa?

The Prospective Marriage Visa (Subclass 300) allows people outside Australia to enter the country to marry their Australian fiancé or fiancée.

This visa is generally valid for nine months from the date it is granted. During this period, the visa holder must:

  • Enter Australia
  • Marry their sponsoring partner
  • Apply for a Partner Visa while in Australia

Please note that the Prospective Marriage Visa cannot be extended once you are in Australia.
